Because research into the rifts seems to have increased in many places and I am not particularly fond of the ways in which it has.

[But that is neither here nor there.]

I would first ask you what your thoughts are on these particular ones, as someone who has traveled through others before.

Oh? Do you not enjoy having random rifts open up that lead to nowhere?

[ A chuckle. Raha takes a drink of his tea and then stops to think. ]

Passing through the void is no small task. Those that have the capability to do so, at least where I hail from, would need to give up physical form in order to be able to do so. Getting someone to pass through both body and soul is nearly an impossible task. There are far too many variables for consideration.

[ Difficult, but not impossible. They had managed to do it before, to travel to the 14th as it were. Now there is Alexandria that has been slapped onto the Source as well. ]

It takes a great deal of aether. The rifts that are appearing right now are short on it. The caster simply doesn't contain enough energy within their body.

You do not think that we are the same in that sense? All of us here, some form of our souls or what have you?

My very last attempt I was able to pull someone through body and soul. However, I had... Some miscalculations prior. Even on my success, I ended up sending them to the wrong location and had to chase them down.

[ As for her question, it would be a lie to say that it hasn't crossed his mind... ]

Perhaps we could be here in that sense. Unless one can detect such things, it might go missed. However, the longer the soul is disconnected from the body, the closer to death's doorstep the body becomes. When that happens...

But some of this does remain reminiscent of the rifts here, namely the randomly teleporting into this world with no rhyme or reason as to where. Well, for the most part. She wonders if the reason that people keep showing up near the ships is because they are always docked near the Leviathans, and that is where the magic is drawn to?

Would there have been a way to tether that person to that other world that you drew them into? Regardless of whether it was simply soul, or both.

Ah, that was the problem we ultimately faced. As I failed to bring them both body and soul, they were stuck upon the First. My friend, the one that I had meant to bring all along, was able to traverse freely.

[ There's a little sigh and G'raha takes a moment to sip some tea. ]

The method I had used was very precise. I needed to be able to not only pinpoint someone's location, but it required knowing the signature of their very soul as well.

[ It's not an easy process. It's difficult and complex and thus G'raha wonders how this alleged artifact can do so every so often. ]
